Algeria-Tunisia-Libya Tripartite Summit In Tunisia

  • President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to visit Tunisia on Monday

Tunisia is expected to host on Monday a Maghreb summit that will bring together the heads of state of Algeria, Tunisia and Libya, within the framework of the first consultative meeting agreed by the leaders of these countries to coordinate frameworks of partnership and cooperation to face economic and security challenges in a way that will benefit the peoples of the three countries.

According to a statement by the Presidency of the Tunisian Republic on Saturday, and at the invitation of the President of the Tunisian Republic, Kais Saied, the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, will visit Tunisia on Monday to participate in the first consultative meeting between the leaders of the three sister countries.
The Tunisian Presidency added that the head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed Younes Menfi, will also attend the summit in addition to Presidents Tebboune and Kais Saied.

The Presidency of the Republic announced earlier, at the beginning of March, that the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, his Tunisian counterpart, Kais Saied, and the President of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed Menfi, had agreed to hold a tripartite Maghreb meeting every three months, the first of which will be held in Tunisia on Monday.

The statement said that the three presidents held a tripartite meeting in which they reviewed the results of the seventh gas summit held in Algiers from February 29 to March 2 last year.

According to the same source, the leaders of the three countries also discussed the prevailing conditions in the Maghreb region, so that the meeting concluded with the need to intensify and unify efforts to face the economic and security challenges in a way that will positively benefit the peoples of the three countries.

President Tebboune had previously sent Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf on a tour of Tunisia, Libya and Mauritania to deliver written messages to the three countries regarding a proposal to create a common framework for coordinating positions and discussing the problems of the Maghreb region.
