President Tebboune Urges Urgent Islamic Action Supporting Palestine

  • “What is happening in Palestine is a blow to the legitimacy of international law and human rights”.

The President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, called for urgent collective Islamic action to defend the holy sites, most notably the city of Jerusalem, which is being subjected to Judaization and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is being desecrated daily, stressing that what is happening in occupied Palestine is not only the extinction of international law or the collapse of the global order based on common rules. Rather, it constitutes a blow to the legitimacy of international law and human rights as concepts and doctrine.

President Tebboune stressed, on Saturday, in the capital of Gambia, Banjul, in a speech delivered on his behalf by Prime Minister Nadir Arbaoui, during the 15th summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, “the necessity of immediately and permanently stopping the aggression against the Palestinian people and allowing humanitarian aid to reach the Gaza Strip through… Immediate and urgent implementation of UN Security Council resolutions, especially Resolution No. 2728, as well as holding the occupation accountable for its heinous crimes.”

The President of the Republic stopped at the harrowing suffering of the Palestinian people, asking: “When we see in Palestine an occupier who denies all human values and strips an entire people of their humanity and their right to exist, what remains of human rights?”

In this context, the President of the Republic called for “working together at the international level in order to support the struggle of the Palestinian people to obtain their legitimate rights to establish their independent state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital,” stressing “the need to adopt a more decisive approach to force the international community to assume its responsibility regarding providing protection.” necessary to protect the Palestinian people from the criminal and brutal acts to which they are exposed.”

In the same context, he also renewed the call to push towards “activating a political path to find a comprehensive, just and final solution to the Palestinian issue while strengthening international recognition of the Palestinian state and working to obtain full membership in the United Nations.”

The President of the Republic added, addressing the members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, saying: “Our responsibility drives us to a collective commitment to defend our just causes and to confront all attempts to harm the sanctities of the Islamic nation through collective and urgent action through all available mechanisms and in a way that enables our organization to assume its historical, legal and moral responsibility to defend our sanctities and to The most important of which is the city of Jerusalem, which is subjected daily to Judaization and racial cleansing, and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is desecrated daily.”
